A Message from the Executive Director

As nonprofit organizations continue to face uncertainty and ongoing challenges, the Foundation for a Healthy High Point remains focused on our role as a private, charitable foundation. In this moment, we are committed to staying grounded in our mission, our values, and our vision: addressing the social and economic causes of poor health outcomes in our community.

During times like these, it’s good to be reminded of who we are and what we stand for. We are here to use philanthropy as a tool—to build relationships, support innovation, and remain rooted in the long-term vision of health equity. We have the privilege of being independent, which allows us to use language that reflects equity, even when our partners may not be able to do so. We can create space for collaboration and conversation while also supporting efforts that lead to real change. We strive to inspire action, nurture a culture of trust and learning, and stand by the people and organizations doing the work every day.

Our vision is that all residents of Greater High Point have opportunities to live healthier lives. Our mission is to collaboratively engage the Greater High Point community in addressing and improving upstream social influences that impact health and well-being. Our equity statement prioritizes communities whose social determinants of health are most challenging, requires that we listen to communities and work with them toward solutions, ensures that the Foundation and its partners reflect the diversity of the Greater High Point community and that we consistently review our grantmaking to ensure equitable opportunities.

In this issue of our newsletter, we’re highlighting several efforts that reflect our roles as a funder, convener, advocate, collaborator, and capacity builder.

We spotlight the Guilford Nonprofit Consortium; a valued partner that’s helping foster stronger connections and shared learning across the nonprofit sector.

We share updates from Neighborhood Associations in High Point, which are leading grassroots efforts to build healthier, more engaged communities.

We reflect on our recent Medicaid Expansion Convening, which brought together partners to plan, learn, and take action around improving access to care for our residents.

Each of these efforts reflects our commitment to collaboration, health equity, and long-term community impact.

As we look ahead, we’re also preparing for our upcoming advocacy convening, which continues this vital conversation. We believe deeply in providing moments that inspire action and support the advocacy work that makes lasting impact possible.

Finally, we acknowledge that the nonprofit sector as a whole is experiencing increasing pressure and scrutiny. Through our support of nonprofit and philanthropic associations, we’re joining others in standing up for the nonprofit and philanthropic sector. We must protect the independence of organizations that are working for the public good. In moments like this, we are proud to use our voice when others cannot.

Thank you for walking alongside us. We’re grateful for your support and partnership as we continue to work toward a healthier High Point.
