Foundation for a Healthy High Point Announces Leadership Transition as Executive Director Curtis Holloman Moves into Semi-Retirement

High Point, NC – The Foundation for a Healthy High Point announced that Executive Director & CEO Curtis Holloman will transition out of his role with the organization and move into semi-retirement following nearly six years of service to the organization and the Greater High Point community.

Holloman will continue to support the Foundation during the transition period, ensuring continuity in leadership and ongoing initiatives.

Since joining the Foundation in 2021, Holloman has guided the organization through a period of strategic focus and expanded community engagement, strengthening the Foundation’s role as a place-based funder focused on addressing the upstream social and economic conditions that influence health through partnerships, community investment, and long-term solutions that improve quality of life.

During his tenure, the Foundation expanded its grantmaking and community engagement efforts, including awarding $9.9 million in support of more than 160 grants to local organizations addressing the root causes of health disparities, such as housing, food access, behavioral health, and early childhood development.

The Foundation also broadened its grantmaking approach during this period by establishing a more flexible Small Grants program, allowing the organization to respond more effectively to grassroots organizations and emerging community opportunities outside of its two Impact Grant cycles.  In addition, targeted special solicitations were incorporated into the Foundation’s Impact Grant request-for-proposals to address evolving community priorities and deepen strategic impact.

At the same time, the Foundation strengthened both its community impact and long-term financial position, growing organizational assets by nearly 12% while continuing to invest millions of dollars into local nonprofit and community initiatives throughout Greater High Point.  Additional staffing and operational support also expanded technical assistance, relationship-building, and engagement efforts with Funded Partners and community organizations.

“Serving the Foundation has been one of the greatest privileges of my career,” said Holloman.  “This work has never been about any one individual.  It’s about a community coming together to address the conditions that shape health and opportunity.  I am deeply proud of what we have accomplished alongside our partners and grateful for the relationships built along the way.  The Foundation is well-positioned to continue creating meaningful, lasting impact.”

The Foundation, established in 2013 with a community endowment, continues to serve as a convener, funder, and advocate, bringing together cross-sector partners to address complex health challenges and invest in solutions that improve health outcomes across High Point, Jamestown, Trinity, and Archdale.

Board Chair, Dr. Elliott Williams, expressed appreciation for Holloman’s leadership and lasting contributions.

“Curtis has provided thoughtful, mission-driven leadership during a pivotal time for the Foundation,” said Dr. Williams.  “His commitment to addressing the root causes of health inequities and building strong partnerships across our community has strengthened our organization and positioned us for continued success.  On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are deeply grateful for his service and wish him the very best in this next chapter.”

The Board of Directors has established an Executive Transition Committee to guide the organization through this important period of leadership change.  The Committee will work closely with staff and local stakeholders to ensure continuity and clarity in the Foundation’s direction. To support the search for the next Executive Director, the Board has engaged Armstrong McGuire, a nationally recognized firm with expertise in nonprofit executive search and transitions.
