New Board Chair For 2022

The Foundation for a Healthy High Point welcomes Dr. Elliott Williams as the new chair of its Board of Directors for 2022.

Dr. Williams is a Founding Board Member and served from 2013 until 2020, returning in 2022 to the leadership role as the Foundation plans to launch an updated strategic direction to address “upstream” conditions into which people are born and where they live, work, and play.

A board-certified anesthesiologist, Dr. Williams has been a resident of High Point since 1993. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from UNC at Chapel Hill, performed his residency training in anesthesiology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, and served on the UVA Health Sciences Center faculty. Dr. Williams is the former Chief of Staff, Chief of Hospital-Based Physicians, Chairman of the Planning Committee, and an Executive Committee member of the Hospital Board of Trustees at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist High Point Medical Center. He is currently a member of the Endowment Committee and Chief of Anesthesiology. Dr. Williams is the President and Managing Partner of Carolina Anesthesiology, PA and a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the North Carolina Society of Anesthesiologists, and our local, state, and national medical societies,

“It is an honor to return to the Board in this leadership role. As we approach our 10-year anniversary in 2023, the Foundation is positioned to build upon the great work that has already been completed to improve health and wellness in our community,” said Dr. Williams.

“Dr. Williams brings a unique perspective to the Board having participated in the startup of the Foundation. He will provide valuable experience and understanding as we shift to a new strategic direction,” said Curtis Holloman, executive director of the Foundation for a Healthy High Point.

The Foundation also welcomes David Jones as a new board member for 2022. David retired in 2019 after 34 years as a Certified Financial Planner with Edward Jones Investments. He has served as a volunteer and board member of High Point Young Life and Boy Scouts of America and is currently the Treasurer of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and a member of the Kiwanis Club of High Point.

“I am thrilled to join the other board members at this exciting time in the Foundation’s growth in High Point,” said Jones.

“We look forward to David bringing his experience in the financial markets to help oversee the assets the community has entrusted to the Foundation,” said Curtis Holloman.

The Foundation’s 2022 Board Officers also include Jeremy Moseley, Vice-Chair; Stephanie Johnson, Secretary; and Charles Cain, Treasurer. Since its inception, the Foundation has approved approximately $13M in grant funding to serve the Greater High Point Community.

The Foundation for a Healthy High Point was established in 2013. The mission of the Foundation is to encourage, support, influence, and invest in efforts that improve health and wellness throughout the Greater High Point community, which includes High Point, Jamestown, Archdale, and Trinity.
