Press Release: The Foundation For A Healthy High Point Announces Spring 2018 Grant Awards

High Point, N.C. — On June 12, 2018, the Board of Directors for The Foundation for a Healthy High Point — a private foundation that invests in the advancement of health and wellness for High Point residents — approved $671,089 in grants to local non-profits as a part of the Foundation’s Spring Traditional Grant Cycle. Approximately 75% of the awarded funds were for programs addressing Early Childhood Intervention. In addition, Small Grants Program awards for Quarters 1 and 2 were approved totaling $15,039 to two non-profit organizations.
“The Foundation is pleased to make these grantmaking investments in our community by partnering with organizations dedicated to making a positive impact,” said Jim Keever, Board Chair for the Foundation. “These awards will continue to advance efforts currently underway as these agencies and the Foundation together seek to improve health outcomes in High Point by expanding services to serve more community members” said Tina Markanda, Executive Director of the Foundation for a Healthy High Point.
The Foundation for a Healthy High Point’s Board of Directors approved the following Traditional Cycle Grants:
- Family Service of the Piedmont: $500,000 to assist with establishing a Center of Excellence for Integrated Child Psychiatric Treatment.
- Guilford Child Development: $58,400 to assist with support for the Nurse-Family Partnership program.
- Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services: Division of Public Health: $87,689 to assist with support for the Family Connects program.
- Guilford County Partnership for Children: $25,000 to assist with support for the Ready for School, Ready for Life Initiative.
The Foundation for a Healthy High Point’s Board of Directors approved the following Small Grants Program awards:
- Guilford County Coalition on Infant Mortality: $10,000 to assist with expanding the Adopt-A-Mom program in Greater High Point
- Guilford Non-Profit Consortium: $5,039 to assist with support for capacity building efforts for non-profit organizations.
The Foundation for a Healthy High Point was established in 2013 through the merger of High Point Regional Health and UNC Health Care.
