Press Release: The Foundation For A Healthy High Point Awards Grants To 7 Non-Profits

High Point, N.C. – On June 10, 2015, the Board of Directors for The Foundation for a Healthy High Point — a private foundation that invests in the advancement of health and wellness for High Point residents —approved $50,400 in grants to seven local organizations and non-profits as a part of the Foundation’s Spark Grant program.

These short-term, one-time grants support projects that will offer quick results, “spark” new ideas, support bold initiatives, and improve the health and wellness of individuals within the Greater High Point community.

The Foundation awarded grants to the Alcohol and Drug Services of Guilford, Family Service of the Piedmont, Go Out For A Run (GO FAR), the Division of Public Health for the Guilford County, Department of Health and Human Services, Senior Resources of Guilford, Triad Health Project, and the YWCA of High Point. “We expect to see great accomplishments from our first round of grants,” said Jim Keever, Board Chairman for the Foundation for a Healthy High Point. Through these collaborations, the Foundation seeks to ignite actions and initiatives that will improve the health outcomes and lives of High Point residents. “The Foundation is delighted for this opportunity to partner with non-profit organizations in Greater High Point to make a positive impact on the community and its residents,” stated Tina Markanda, Executive Director of the Foundation.

The Foundation for a Healthy High Point was established in 2013 through the merger of High Point Regional Health with UNC Health Care.  The mission of the Foundation is to encourage, support, influence, and invest in efforts that improve health and wellness throughout the Greater High Point community. By examining health issues and evidence-based practices, the Foundation identifies the needs of those within Greater High Point, which includes High Point, Jamestown, Archdale and Trinity.
