Press Release: The Foundation Marks $1 Million Milestone

The Foundation for a Healthy High Point, a private foundation that invests in the advancement of health and wellness for High Point residents, looks back on a successful year of many ‘firsts.’
High Point, N.C. — In 2015, The Foundation for a Healthy High Point embarked on its first grantmaking efforts and began examining health issues in the community to identify opportunities to improve the health and wellbeing of the residents of Greater High Point. The Foundation awarded $1,030,106 to 21 organizations this year for a variety of health topics including behavioral health, physical activity, substance abuse, and teen pregnancy prevention.
“We’ve had an exciting year of firsts, including our first $1 million dollars awarded to local non-profits serving High Point” said Jim Keever, Board Chairman for the Foundation for a Healthy High Point. “The Foundation is thrilled to have the opportunity to assist in planting the seeds of change and watching them grow into sustainable improvements for the community” stated Tina Markanda, Executive Director of the Foundation.
The Foundation plans to continue on this trajectory and will announce the next grant application cycle details and timeline in early 2016.
The Foundation for a Healthy High Point was established in 2013 through the merger of High Point Regional Health and UNC Health Care. The mission of the Foundation is to encourage, support, influence, and invest in efforts that improve health and wellness throughout the Greater High Point community, which includes High Point, Jamestown, Archdale and Trinity.
